20 Years in Vietnam
2009 Year of the Buffalo!
For Asians the Year of the Buffalo is
quiet and low-key, but a lot of work
should also be done. Thanh-Long Le,

In Vietnam the Year of the Buffalo
began with the New Years celebrations
on 26th January 2009 (according
to the Chinese calendar). We are
naturally not all superstitious (!), but
nevertheless we and our colleagues
in Vietnam see that as a good omen
and a challenge. This year we will
also celebrate the 20-year anniversary
of our production site in Vietnam.
The Chinese zodiac signs attach specifi
c character properties to the different
animals. And we feel naturally
committed to the characterisation of
the animal, whose North American
relative (we are also thinking global
here) gives its name to our company:
The buffalo is a paragon of reliability.
He masters his responsibilities
and intention with perseverance,
which sometimes verges
on stubbornness. He fights hard
for his goals at times he alarms
others with his energy and his
stubbornness. The buffalo is
hard-working, docile and patient.
The global economic crisis is also
worrying us. And our Vietnamese
colleagues look at it this way: We
Vietnamese believe that the economic
crisis in the year of the buffalo
shall be overcome with disciplined
work from every individual, which
the past year of the mouse triggered.
In this sense we will tackle it!
